Summary: Unchecking "I am the author" after previewing a text post doesn't stick Created: 2017-10-16 00:56 Status: Open Category: Bug From: rsaarelm Assigned: Priority: 2

Version: OS:

Description: I want to make text posts that are about multiple links to stuff by other people, so "I am the author" is not appropriate. When I first hit preview on a text post, the box gets checked for me. When I uncheck it, it gets checked again when I hit preview. The first one makes sense since you still want to default self-posts to self-authored, but after that preview should look what you set the checkbox to and keep it that way.

Maybe it could work like this: When you enter the submit page, the site doesn't know if you're making a link post or a text post, so the checkmark is initially checked. There's a javascript UI that recognizes if you manually either check or uncheck it and does not change it from whatever you set it to from then on. If you have not touched the checkmark yourself yet and write anything into the URL: field, the javascript will uncheck the initially checked checkmark, since now it's guessing you're making a link post. (And maybe re-check it if you clear the link field, again if we're in the "checkmark has never been changed manually" state) rsaarelm
